An extremely cheep very short scale electric bass sold through Sears. Another quick to the market item to catch the expected short fad of rock bands. Strange, some 40 years later the fad is still going strong. Sears is not doing so well.

This Silvertone electric bass is of classic Danelectro manufacture. I found it completely incased in a nice thick layer of light blue house paint (even over the fret board). I pealed back the paint to free it, but little of the original finish remained. I am slowing working towards a refinishing of the body. Short scale for a bass, I am thinking of re-tuning it to a Mando-Cello (C G D A) or Mando-Small-Bass (A D G C).

Fit and finish of these re-issue in much better the vintage Danelectros. The "lip-stick" type pickups still capture the classic sound. The necks have much more conventional tapper and radius then the old dual truss of the vintage necks.
