A Teisco Del Rey, Short Scale Electric Bass

This is a classic garage sale special.
I do not recall the details, but back in the late 1970s this fine specimen was up for sale and it ended up in my hands.
Beyond the heavy duty tuners, Teisco made very little accommodation to convert a guitar to a bass.
The scale is 24.75 inches. On the short side even for a guitar, much less a bass.

This is perhaps the poorest, flappiest stringed bass I have ever played.
Despite the very heavy strings it is a real challenge to tune this to the low E.
A better fate would be to convert it to a string tenor or even to a guitar.
