This is our little desert laboratory. If you squint, you can see the experiment. It is 150 meters from my instrument. This is why we call it remote sensing. With appropriate optics we could in theory collect data at any range. Much like the telescopes used by astronomers to look at the stars, I use an infrared telescope to collect the IR light from the chemicals in the distance.
