It is not quite a shoot-out, but it is a kind of dual. Here I am trying to use the Sun's rays to enhance my detection. The FM-DIAL has the advantage of using a IR laser. The infrared is a very useful region of the spectrum for chemical detection, as it is the energy region in which molecules vibrate. The IR spectrum can be used as a chemicals "fingerprint".
